Three days ago, I received a question regarding disqus comment system. He is asking how did I customized my comment system from the default one to the current design that I am using.

To help him, I'm posting this step-by-step solution on how to do it. From here on, I assume that you already installed or added or your comment system to your site or blog.

Steps on Customizing

1) Login to

2) Pick the site that you wish to customized. Sites are listed to the upper left side.

3) Go to Settings > Appearance and scroll down. I'm not sure if the theme would affect the code but as for this customization, I am using Narcissus.

4) At the bottom part you'll see Custom CSS where you can place your CSS styling. You may place the code below to your CSS style.

#dsq-content #dsq-comments .dsq-comment-body {
 padding: 0.5em 0.7em;
 background: #000; /* replace this to change background color */
 font-family: Lucida Sans Unicode, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;
 color:white;    /* replace this to change font-color */

 /* This creates a border around your comments */
 border-bottom:#d3d3d3 1px solid;
 border-left:#d3d3d3 1px solid;
 border-right:#d3d3d3 1px solid;
 border-top:#d3d3d3 1px solid;
 /* The style below creates a rounded corner border for your comments */
 -moz-border-radius: 5px;
 -webkit-border-radius: 5px;
 -khtml-border-radius: 5px;
 border-radius: 5px;
.dsq-options {
 display: none; /* this will hide the options */
.dsq-dc-logo {
 display: none; /* this will hide the disqus logo */

#dsq-content #dsq-comments .dsq-comment {
 margin-bottom: 10px;  /* adjust for comments' spacing */

The background and color properties can be changed depending on your taste. Borders can also be customized or removed if you want.

So that's it, play with the colors and enjoy editing. :)

  1. I don't use disqus but thanks for sharing this. this will help disqus users

  2. oh my! wala akong naintindihan. hahaha

  3. ahhhh! I removed disqus kc tagal mg load dw..nag rreklamo ung iba :(

  4. kaya nga po nilagyan ko ng images.. :)

  5. Yup yun nga sabi nila, pero wala pa naman nagrereklamo sa akin. But one way to avoid the slow down is to paginate your comments, para di sabay-sabay niloload.

  6. thanks sir jam for visiting.. yeah, I hope I can help other people with this. :)

  7. Hello friend!
    My Disqus Comment still empty, I do not know whether working or not .. : D

  8. based on your site, I can't seem to see that you are using disqus... are you sure you have installed it properly on your blog?

  9. yap, i think something wrong with that. i just installed the script, but not in my comment form, and CSS code not installed yet. Does the CSS code above can work with my disqus script in my blog?

  10. That should have worked if you installed it properly, the CSS above just customizes the appearance.

    Based from what I heard, there are cases wherein disqus' code for blogger won't work on certain templates. Have you tried their support?

    You can also use their Universal code if the default doesn't work for you..but still I would recommend asking for their support. :)

  11. yeah, i learning that now, or maybe i delete that disqus :D
    okey Aj, thanks for ur help, i appreciate that. Success for you friend! :)

  12. Aji, i've done installed the Disqus Comment System. would you please check that to ensure if work properly.? thank you

  13. I left a comment on your post... it seems to be working now :)

  14. Aji, Thank you have visited and examined, I will correct your suggestion again. :)
